This is probably the most frequent issue. The glass itself is usually fine, but something in the mechanism that moves it is faulty.

Common Causes for a Stuck Window
  • Busted Window Motor: This is a big one. The electric motor that powers your window regulator can burn out. You might hear a clicking sound, a whirring that stops short, or nothing at all when you press the button.
  • Faulty Window Regulator: Think of the regulator as the arms and gears that lift and lower the glass. If the cables fray, the gears strip, or a pivot point breaks, it can stop working. Sometimes you’ll hear grinding or thudding noises.
